Understanding Primary and Secondary (Partial) Enrollments

Primary Enrollments

Primary Enrollment: This would be the enrollment of the student that represents the provider that is primarily responsible for giving a student their education (e.g. provides education over 50% of the time). Sometimes this percentage is debatable, and therefore when there is debate, the school can then just simply choose which provider they wish to deem as "primary".

For Example: In the situation of an ALL DAY BOCES student, the BOCES is primarily the provider of the education, and therefore should be the "Calendar" that is chosen on the enrollment record which is then the enrollment record set with a "Service Type" of PRIMARY.

Secondary (Partial) Enrollments

Secondary (Partial) Enrollment: Because no student in Infinite Campus should have TWO Primary Enrollments, a secondary (partial) enrollment would be the enrollment for a student that represents the provider that is simply being listed on the student's record for "instructional reporting only".

For Example: In the situation of an ALL DAY BOCES student, taking a class or two at your school, they need only be "partially enrolled" in the High School Building for "instructional reporting purposes only" (e.g. the TSDL data for the course(s) they are taking at the high school, needs to be included in Staff Student Course extract).
