Data Security

About Us

The Data Security team provides a wide range of security related services to all component districts as well as WFL and GV BOCES.

The Data Security service provides support for districts in keeping compliance with NYS Education Law 2d along with other applicable state and federal regulations. EduTech works closely with the district’s appointed data privacy officer to assist with performing data systems inventories, data security self-assessments, along with implementing appropriate controls to ensure that data is safe and secure. The service provides guidance on which training is appropriate for district staff depending on their role and access to sensitive data. EduTech aids districts in order to remain in compliance with current regulations, as well as following the latest best practices and procedures. The service also aids in developing system controls to monitor data systems on a continual basis.

Services provided by the Data Security team include but are not limited to:

  • Assisting districts and BOCES administration with implementing policies surrounding various elements of data security
  • Provide guidance on Ed Law 2d and part 121
  • Develop, distribute, and communicate training in a variety of Ed Law 2d compliance requirements and data security best practices
