• AccelerateU is an online learning program run by EduTech that provides 300+ web-based courses to students enrolled in New York State school districts to help them earn credit, recover credit, accelerate learning, or fulfill graduation requirements. 
• Students work independently online with guidance from NYS certified online teachers (as per NYSED regulations) who provide instruction and assistance. 
• Our courses utilize a variety of methods (text, audio, video, animations, and assessments to deliver curriculum. Communication between students, teachers, and staff is done through messaging in our closed, secure platform. 

• We enroll on a rolling basis, all year long. Once students are enrolled, they have twenty (20) weeks (16 weeks for AP courses) to complete their one-semester course worth 0.5 credit. 
• With district approval, a four (4) week extension can be granted at no additional cost.  
• Course requests received in June are pushed to a July 1 start date. 

• AccelerateU has supported thousands of students across New York State. Some enroll to access AP courses not available in their schools, while others use the program to recover credit or stay on track for graduation. Many choose AccelerateU for the flexibility it offers, and others use it to move ahead and accelerate their learning. In some districts, entire classes participate due to staffing or scheduling challenges. Whatever your district’s goals, AccelerateU is ready to help — and we’re proud to be part of the solution. 

• We encourage students to work on their courses at their own pace. We recommend a minimum of 3 hours per week. For AP courses, students should complete 4-6 hours a week. Pacing is guided by target due dates in each course.  
• Communication is very important. Stay in touch with your coach/tutor, AccelerateU teacher, and staff. Don’t be afraid to ask questions! 

• The single most effective support a district or parent/guardian can provide is an engaged adult meeting with the student regularly, helping, encouraging, advocating, and partnering with AccelerateU staff and teachers. The teachers and staff at AccelerateU are committed to helping all students be successful. Please reach out to us to discuss how we can best support your student(s). 
• Districts are required to designate a local advisor/tutor/coach who will monitor progress and meet with their student(s) as needed. The more structure a district builds into the online learning experience, the more successful students tend to be. That structure can include scheduled work times during the day, regular check-ins, and access to an engaged coach/tutor/teaching assistant. 
• Student progress is tracked regularly. Progress reports are sent to school staff and families every week.  

• Most of our online teachers work in districts full-time during the day. They check their email, respond to students, and grade in the evenings and on the weekends. In most cases, teachers will respond within 24 hours.  
• Teachers have a virtual office hour weekly and by request. Their times and meeting links can be found on a course’s landing page.  
• Students should reach out to teachers using the messaging feature in the Genius platform.  

• Districts are primarily responsible for IEP and 504 Plan modifications. We offer flexibility and personalization, partnering with district staff to offer the most supportive environment possible.  
• AccelerateU also has a Special Education Advisor who collaborates with our teachers and districts to help to ensure that students receive the support, tools, and guidance they need to succeed in AccelerateU courses. 

• A laptop or computer with updated plug-ins and a reliable internet connection is required. Chromebooks work, but some courses require a Windows PC or a Macintosh. 
• We do NOT recommend smartphones, tablets, or iPads to access course content. 
• The preferred browser for our courses is Google Chrome.  
• The district is responsible for the technical support of its devices and ensuring that its devices can run AccelerateU courses. For AccelerateU course support, please message teachers and AccelerateU staff through the Genius program.
